Integration is officially live
The t:slim X2 insulin pump now integrates with the Dexcom G7 Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) system in Canada. This integration is exciting news for tandem users waiting to use the latest and greatest Dexcom CGM product alongside their insulin pump.
The integration is officially going live for Canadian customers starting on December 10, 2024. The original timeline for this functionality was Fall 2024, and we are happy to see this timeline come true.
The t:slim X2 pump now offers dual integration with both Dexcom G6 and G7, meaning Tandem customers can still choose which sensor they prefer.
How to upgrade
Starting December 10, Tandem will begin sending out emails inviting users to update their system to allow for compatibility with the Dexcom G7. The update appears to be straight forward, simply log into SOURCE and download the pump update. The G7 connectivity will work out-of-the-box.
This update appears to come with other updates including exercise mode.
Where to get the Dexcom G7
The Dexcom G6 has historically been available mainly via direct purchase from Dexcom. The G7 however is available through pharmacies and is not sold direct by Dexcom. For customers that wish to direct bill their G7 orders to their insurance, you’ll need a prescription for the Dexcom G7 from your doctor.
Endor Health is the easiest and most affordable way to get Dexcom G7. has some of the lowest prices around on Dexcom G7, supports direct billing for G7 to most insurers, supports auto-redemption of G7 replacement vouchers and auto-detects and applies drug coupons on prescription orders.
Key Features of the Dexcom G7
The Dexcom G7 CGM system brings several improvements over its predecessor:
1. Improved Accuracy: The G7 is touted as the most accurate CGM system available.
2. Faster Warm-up: With a 30-minute warm-up period, the G7 is twice as fast as other CGM systems
3. Smaller Size: The G7 sensor is 60% smaller than the G6, making it more discreet and comfortable to wear.
4. All-in-One Design: The sensor and transmitter are combined into a single, easy-to-apply unit.
5. Extended Grace Period: Users now have a 12-hour grace period at the end of the 10-day sensor session, allowing for more convenient sensor changes.
